Our
Story
Sitem Spa was established in 1974 in the Cannaiola di Trevi area, in Umbria region, still the group's legal and administrative headquarters, in a strategic position as it is close to the Terni steelworks.
After a difficult start, given the economic context in which it was operating, Mrs. Maria Landa Scarca Bartoloni took over the management. Thanks to the great spirit of sacrifice and her strong intuition, she started the company and brought it to have an important position at national level as a manufacturer of magnetic laminations for the white goods sector (mainly refrigeration compressors and washing machines).
In the year 2000 his son, Mr. Giovanni Bartoloni, was appointed as CEO. He undertook a serious expansion of the company bringing it from 100 to 700 employees who are now part of the group.
In 2002 two companies located in Limbiate (Milan area) were acquired, one specialized in magnetic laminations shearing and the other (former Zaninelli) an equipment shop with decades of experience in the design and construction of progressive blanking dies.
In 2004 a new production site was founded in Slovakia, in Spisska Nova Ves, able to meet the needs of customers who had moved to Eastern Europe. In 2006 Decoup was acquired, a small company in the Champagne area (south of Paris) that produces sheet metal for transformers, C-cores and toroids for the French and German markets.
In 2009, despite the global economic downturn, the former Framag SpA factory in Canegrate (Milan area) was acquired. It produced magnetic sheets and die-cast aluminium components for electric motors dedicated mainly to the market in central Europe, in particular to Germany.
The expansion of the product range allows Sitem to offer its customers an all-round service, from the raw material (steel or aluminium) to the finished, machined and / or painted piece, to be assembled directly in the customers' lines.
In 2010, at the same time as the disappearance of the founder Mrs. Scarca, Mr. Marco Bartoloni, Mr Giovanni's son, enters the company and still represents the third generation of the family in the company.
In 2012 the former Rotall was acquired, a Brescia-based company specialized in rotors die-casting for electric motors on behalf of third parties. The company boasted numerous customers in Italy and Germany thanks to the know-how acquired using horizontal presses up to 750 tons. Subsequently, the existing die-casting lines are transferred to the Canegrate production site, where the group's die-casting centre is created.
At the end of 2016, the acquisition of Stanzwerk AG, a Swiss company close to Zurich, well known on the market for its high-quality standards and precision in the production of magnetic laminations, especially for the automotive sector, is completed.
Thanks to the policy of continuous investments in research and development and the training of highly specialized staff, we can offer our customers technologically advanced solutions.
